Yesterday, when we were getting Little Hart's checking account set up, Elle had come with us to be there for her big day. As we were getting ready to leave, Elle came down the stairs and announced that she had noticed that the bank had been charging her a $3 monthly fee for her teen checking account that is supposed to be an account with zero fees. So she was going to get that money back! Raylan suggested that we wait until after we had taken care of opening Little Hart's account since it's her birthday and all. She agreed. However, when we got to the bank she decided that she didn't need our help (me or Raylan) and decided to take matters into her own hands. She goes up to the teller desk and ask to speak to someone in charge who can help rectify the situation. Next thing I know she is sitting in the cubicle next to us, going through the various print outs from her account to show them this injustice. I smile and chuckle a little. This is my daughter after all taking on the Man and kickin some ass in the meantime. A few minutes later I look over and the Branch Manager is apologizing to my 16 year old for causing her this terrible inconvenience and they have deposited the money back into her account. They really appreciate her business. I look over at Raylan and say if she can handle this at 16 I have no doubts that she will be able to take care of any situation when she gets older. He says I absolutely agree! Wow, Amazing!
As you know we have three adult children and well, given the same circumstances, they would have immediately called Raylan to go with them to the bank and "fix it" it for them. So this was an amazing experience for both of us and a very proud moment to have our teenage daughter handle this intimidating situation with such ease! Way to go Girl! Mommy and Daddy are soooooo PROUD!
