The Easter Bunny skipped hiding plastic eggs at our house this year - opting for an Easter gift. In years past, if we didn't have the kids - the Easter Bunny usually made a surprise visit the weekend before or after. You can click here to read a post I wrote last year about how we celebrated the Holiday.
This morning Raylan and I slept in late - woke up - looked at each other - commenting how nice it was that we hadn't been up all hours of the night assisting the Easter Bunny only to be woken up two hours later by three screaming kids - "The Easter Bunny came!!!!"
Over the years the night before Easter had become shorter and shorter thanks to Jax. He was adamant that he was going to "catch" the Easter Bunny(us) in the act. Greta had told him that she was the Easter Bunny so if that was the case over at her house, we must be the Easter Bunny at our house.
In the weeks leading up to Easter a version of the following conversation took place:
Jax: Dad - I know the truth about the Easter Bunny - my Mom told me. Why can't you admit you're the Easter Bunny?
Raylan: I still believe in the Easter Bunny spirit - if you don't I can tell him not to bring you anything.
Jax: I don't want him to skip our house I just want you to admit that it's you!
Sooooo to keep the Easter Bunny spirit alive in our house meant the Easter Bunny helpers had to adapt big time! Jax typically a heavy sleeper on most nights was the lightest of sleepers around the Easter holiday.
Raylan and I started to set our alarm for the middle of the night - dressing up in our black ninja outfits - crawling around in the dark - holding still like statues when we heard the smallest of noise - trying not to laugh out loud at the absurdity of it all.
Thankfully Jax never did catch the Easter Bunny or his helpers! This year he's spending the Easter Holiday in his dorm room in another state. The Easter Bunny sent him a special delivery - the spirit lives on!
Today he seems less concerned about our relationship to the Easter Bunny instead enjoying the reality that the Easter Bunny still finds him no matter where he lays his head.
HAPPY EASTER TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY! HOPE THE EASTER SPIRIT STILL FINDS ITS WAY TO YOUR HOUSE THIS YEAR!
